The house market in Ireland, like so many around the world, has been running away with itself for some time now. For some it's been good times, others not so good. For anyone not on the ladder in Eire times are now quite bad, or are they???
I for one believe that the 'value for money' question in Irish housing is the key - THERE IS NO VALUE LEFT!
Banks are pushing all the tricks - 100% mortgages, 35, 40, etc years, when will it end? NOW is the answer.
This blog will list a record of falling prices. A record collated in one location. Please submit all examples - examples must have links to past and current prices.

If you followed irish house prices over the last 5-10 years using this method, they were "constantly falling"
This does not prove anything only estate agents/sellers pitch their prices high at first and drop depending on interest. It certainly doesn't prove that house prices are falling!!

No need for cached links as both are curretly for sale on Daft, just with a new agent.
Some of these are excellent points that something is happening, but I think a big part of the problem is not so much a drop in prices as a drop in asking prices - for example whatever idiot thought he could get 800k+ for a 450k place in Phibsborough needed his head examined in the first place.
Where I live in Cork places that were being advertised in the spring for 220-230k are now being advertised at anything between 265-320k. 265k is still a 10% rise in less than a year - and even in the "boom" market 10% in one year was not always guaranteed. Whoever thnks they'll get 320k for a house tht was valued at 225k earlier this year simply needs a lobotomy. I think this is more a case of sellers pushing the envelope too far - the eventual closing prices of many of the properties are still higher than 1 or 2 years ago.
I'd be interested though, to see what happens over the next 6 months.
